NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—The New Brunswick Police Department (NBPD) is investigating an "aggravated assault" incident on Saturday, July 18 near a fraternity that lost recognition from its national chapter and Rutgers University.

Police first learned of the incident after a "stabbing" victim had already checked in to nearby Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital.  The crime occured at approximately 1:45 a.m, according to a Rutgers crime alert.

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—Mayor Jim Cahill has appointed of Mark Lavenberg as the city's next Director of the New Brunswick Water Utility, a move approved unanimously by the City Council on July 1.

The appointment makes Lavenberg the fourth person to hold the job in one year, and the fifth since former Water Director Shawn Maloney took his own life in 2007.

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—The New Brunswick Police Department (NBPD) found two men stabbed outside of a French Street liquor establishment when officers responded to a call for help on July 5.

The officers were responding to Hub Liquors, a bar and liquor store located 123 French Street, to investigate the reported stabbings at approximately 7:15 p.m.

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—The New Brunswick Police Department (NBPD) is investigating a recent shooting, which took place on Monday June 29 at approximately 11:35 p.m.

According to the NBPD, Laquan Hill a 25-year-old male from New Brunswick was shot multiple times while standing with two acquaintances on Comstock Street in the city's Second Ward.

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—The Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office (MCPO) has announced a grand jury has handed up a 10-count indictment today charging a former Rutgers University student with setting fire to a campus building and endangering 206 people inside when the fire was ignited.

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—In a recent turn of events, the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office (MCPO) and the South Brunswick Police Department (SBPD) arrested and charged a 25-year-old New Brunswick resident with the murder of Alicia Martinez-Izaguirr of New Brunswick.

Reports indicated that Giver J. Vasquez was an ex-boyfriend of Martinez, who was shot and killed near as she showed up to her warehouse job in South Brunswick on June 24.

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—The Middlesex County Prosecutor's Office (MCPO) identified the victim of a fatal shooting in South Brunswick as 24-year-old Alicia Martinez-Izaguirr of New Brunswick.

Martinez-Izaguirr, a Honduran immigrant who called the Hub City home for almost a decade, was appparently killed inside a vehicle parked outside her job at a warehouse at approximately 7 am on June 25.
