Police Still Looking Man Who Snatched Purse in Downtown

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—Police announced they are seeking the public's help in identifying a man who robbed a female's purse near Starbucks back on July 24.

According to the New Brunswick Police Department (NBPD) press release published three weeks after the incident, the robbery began when the thief followed the woman up Church Street after she exited the George Street Starbucks at around 8 am.

Before and after the thief took off running with the victim's purse, his image was apparently captured on multiple surveillance cameras.

NBPD Investigated Assault, Shooting, Carjacking on Same Summer Day

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—Detectives were spotted investigating another shooting that took place near Throop Avenue and Comstock Street in the city's Second Ward.

It was shortly before mignight on Sunday, August 5, and it looked like it might be the last major crime of the day.

It was a day that already had seen two men injured in an aggravated assault on the other side of the city.

But more crime was still to come before the clock struck midnight.

MCPO: Monroe Man Asked 14-Year-Old Boy to Perform Oral Sex

MONROE, NJ—Michael Tuhy, 30-year-old Township resident, is facing charges of lewdness, third-degree endangering sexual contact with a child, and making terroristic threats following his July 13 arrest.

According to the initial complaint filed against him, Michael A. Tuhy threatened a 14-year-old boy and asked the boy to perform oral sex on him.  It also stated that Tuhy exposed his penis and urinated in front of the victim.

Police: 25-Year-Old Man Arrested After Killing Mother of Four

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—Authorities confirmed that they have arrested a North Brunswick man they believe is responsible for the city's second homicide of 2017.

The fatal shooting occurred on Seventh Street, two blocks north of the New Brunswick Middle School, at around 10:30 am on July 14.

In a press statement three days later, the Middlesex County Prosecutor's Office (MCPO) identified 25-year-old Christian Cortes as the shooter who took the life of Desiree Alvarado, a 38-year-old mother of four.

Three Men Plead Guilty in Random Killing of Hamilton Street Resident

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—The family of a victim killed earlier this year, just a few steps from his Hamilton Street apartment will soon be served justice.

According to the June 26 press release from the Middlesex County Prosecutor's Office (MCPO), the three men accused of taking the life of 29-year-old Enrique Perez Galindo, a father of four kids who was killed during a random robbery, have pled guilty to manslaughter.

Man Shot in Both Legs at Commercial Avenue Apartment Complex

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—The New Brunswick Police Department (NBPD) is investigating a shooting that injured a 19-year-old resident in the early morning hours of Monday, June 19.

According to the police statement, the victim was with friends outside of building 1 at the New Brunswick Apartments, located at 33 Commercial Avenue, shortly after 12 am, when he was  shot in both legs.

23-Year-Old Man Injured in Shooting at Delavan and Throop

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—The New Brunswick Police Department (NBPD) is investigating a shooting that injured a 23-year-old male during the early morning hours of June 8.

This was apparently the first in a series of shootings that occurred on Throop Avenue near Delavan Street.

According to a video from a security camera, a man wearing a gray hoodie opened fire on a vehicle at 12:51 A.M as it backed up on Delavan Street.

According to residents, the shootings are becoming very frequent in the summer months.
