New Brunswick Man Charged with Five Bank Robberies

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—Peter Greer, a 38-year-old city man, has been arrested in connection with five bank robberies, U.S. Attorney Paul J. Fishman announced on March 13.

Greer is charged with five counts of bank robbery and made his first court appearance later that day before U.S. Magistrate Judge Michael A. Hammer in Newark federal court.

Monmouth County Man Sentenced to 13 Years in Prison For Fatal Hit-and-Run

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—On March 4, nearly a year after Brian Clements ran over a 52-year-old pedestrian while driving drunk, the Manalapan motorist was sentenced to serve up to 13 years in a New Jersey state prison.

Clements pleaded guilty to vehicular homicide and fleeing the scene of a fatality, after striking and killing Silvia Reyes-Ramos, a city resident and mother of four children.

At the time of her accident, her only son was nine years old and her daughters were age 36, 29, and 18.

22-Year-Old Man Shot in Downtown Office Building

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—A "drug deal gone bad" scenario unfolded Monday night inside a commercial building on Bayard Street that left two suspects at large and one man shot, according to city police.

The unidentified 22-year-old victim was shot in the leg shortly after 8 p.m.

At 8:09 p.m., a police unit was dispatched in response to the shooting.  Within minutes, all available units were on their way to the 93-year-old office building.
