PISCATAWAY, NJ—Wavves, Echosmith, and local favorites Modern Chemistry performed at Rutgers University’s first annual spring kickoff event at the Livingston Student Center, sponsored by the Rutgers University Programming Association.

New Brunswick's own Modern Chemistry opened the Feb. 6 show with some post rock riffs and blaring vocals breathing energy into the crowd of eager fans. Although the student center was not sold out, just the band’s stage presence alone could have fooled veterans of the music scene.

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—A Fifth Ward basement was home to an "only in New Brunswick" moment last night, as a pizza-themed cover band and its famous lead singer entertained a crowd of nearly 200.

While live musical performances in basements are common throughout the Hub City, last night's show was unique because of the headliner: The Pizza Underground, and its frontman, former child star Macaulay Culkin.
