NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—From the basement shows to the legendary Court Tavern, the Hub City's local music scene is often touted as one of the best in the tri-state area.  But while New Brunswick has long been known as a hotbed for live music, this weekend a live game show might be the main attraction.

Shortly after the annual Christmas tree lighting ceremony concludes on Friday December 6, The Price Is Right Live! will be coming to New Brunswick's very own State Theatre.

Beginning at 8pm, a live version of the famous game show will be hosted by E! network personality Todd Newton in the 1,800-seat theatre, and it will feature real prizes that include appliances, all-inclusive trips, and even a new car.

Tickets cost between $25 and $55 and guests will be pulled from the audience to "come on down" and play famous games from Plinko to Cliffhangers to the Big Wheel, each with valuable prizes on the line.

Also on Friday night, New Brunswick's newest venue for live music will host local band The Do Rights.  The funk group will be performing three sets at World of Beer, located at the intersection of George and Bayard Streets, beginning at 9pm.  As we reported last month, the new establishment offers 500 different types of beer.

On the other side of the very same building, at V Lounge, DJ Erod and DJ Kazzanova will be spinning latin hits as part of the lounge's regular Friday event starting at 10pm.

Rutgers' football team will host the University of South Florida at 7:30pm Saturday night at Rutgers Stadium in Piscataway.

And, finally, bright and early on Sunday morning, thousands of community members will descend on the College Avenue Campus of Rutgers University for the annual Big Chill 5K.

Unlike other running events, there is no cost to participate.  The organizers instead ask runners to bring a child's toy to support needy families this holiday season.

"The entry fee for this charity race is a new, unwrapped toy worth $10 or more for a child between the ages of 3 and 14," reads the official website.

According to the event's website, runners can register in-person at the College Avenue Gym on Friday, December 6 from 1pm-7pm or the morning of the run, Sunday December 8, from 7am-8am.
