NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—Five New Brunswick police officers were the guests of honor at the energetic Sunday morning service held at Promise Church of God on March 5.

Captain Michael Bobadilla accepted a plaque from the church, and addressed the congregation, saying the city has come a long way during his time on the police force.

"Thank you for putting your life on the line daily to protect and serve the residents of New Brunswick," reads the plaque.  "May God Bless and Keep You Safe."

Minister Rupert Palmer told his congregation that the NBPD's participation in the ceremony "only makes me love the police even more."

The church, located at the corner of Suydam Street and Lee Avenue, did not have a relationship with the city's police department.  But they do now.

"The church never had a relationship.  We have just started, although I do have a relationship with some members of the department," Palmer explained.

Palmer said he was inspired to honor the police officers after he saw the Facebook posts of Officer Ryan Daughton.
