For nearly seven years now, I have had the honor and pleasure of serving as the first and only editor of this publication and I intend to continue building this news organization in New Brunswick for as long as possible.
On June 5, I filed a petition to run for Mayor of New Brunswick and I have since promised the people of this city that I will serve full-time in that position should I be victorious in the election.
This would, of course, require me to leave this wonderful organization behind and completely end my involvement here.
I am writing this message today, first and foremost, to assure you that there is a plan in place to replace me should I be the winner of the election, and for New Brunswick Today to maintain our high standards and maintain operations as we continue to evolve and grow under new leadership.
I also am writing to share with you that, throughout the election and in the years to come, we at New Brunswick Today will continue to stay true to our mission of elevating the level of discourse here by covering the issues that matter most to the people of this community.
As always, we will continue to be fair and honest in our work, and that includes disclosing any conflicts of interest that may exist involving our staff, the subjects of our articles, and the publication. We will continue to welcome feedback on our work, and will promptly correct any errors that are brought to our attention.
I will continue to cover our city government, including my opponent, who has served as the top elected official here for the past 27 years. Every article that is written or edited by me that involves the Mayor or anyone appointed by the Mayor will include an editor's note disclosing my status as a candidate in the upcoming election.
In an effort to preserve editorial independence of the publication, some articles concerning the mayoral race and my candidacy will be written and edited entirely by New Brunswick Today staff without my input or involvement. I am confident that our staff will produce excellent work that will make our readers proud, inform voters about their choices in November, and elevate new leaders within our organization.
Finally, I want to state that we are always looking for new staff members to join our team. We welcome anyone who is interested in participating in our organization and hope that you will consider contributing to our community by contributing to this publication.
Anyone who is interested can contact me anytime at 732-993-9697 or via email at [email protected]
Thank you for reading this and for giving New Brunswick Today the opportunity to serve you.
