HUD Announces Change in Scoring System For Inspecting NJ Buildings
TOMS RIVER, NJ—A new Housing and Urban Development (HUD) pilot program plans to rescore HUD building inspections beginning here in New Jersey, according to Lynne Patton, the Regional Administrator for Region II of HUD.
Patton made this announcement, along with other proposals, on April 19 at the Fair Housing 50th Anniversary Seminar in Toms River.
A landlord currently only needs to meet three out of five inspectable areas of a Real Estate Assessment Center (REAC) inspection to pass, according to Patton.

State Senator Named to Top Job at County Utilities Authority
SAYREVILLE, NJ—Joseph Cryan, a longtime politician from Union County, is now earning $190,000 per year as the new Executive Director of the Middlesex County Utilities Authority (MCUA).
Cryan now splits his time between the elected position and the one running the county agency that operates the Middlesex County landfill in East Brunswick and a massive wastewater treatment plant.

Wells Fargo Bank Fined $1 Billion For Corporate Malfeasance
WASHINGTON, D.C.–Wells Fargo Bank must pay $1 billion to federal regulators over two counts of corporate malfeasance against its mortgage and auto lending business.
The fine represents the largest imposed by the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) and most severe levied by the administration of President Donald Trump.

A Statement From The Editor of New Brunswick Today
For nearly seven years now, I have had the honor and pleasure of serving as the first and only editor of this publication and I intend to continue building this news organization in New Brunswick for as long as possible.
On June 5, I filed a petition to run for Mayor of New Brunswick and I have since promised the people of this city that I will serve full-time in that position should I be victorious in the election.
This would, of course, require me to leave this wonderful organization behind and completely end my involvement here.
