NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—Hub City resident Scarlett Angelina is featured the second season of the show American Grit, a “military-inspired competition that follows 17 of the country’s fiercest men and women.”
American Grit is a reality competition show filmed in Hampton Island, Georgia, and hosted by WWE superstar John Cena.  The show airs on Sundays at 9:00pm on Fox.
Angelina graduated from Middlesex County College and Rutgers University, and is currently a model, actress, and publicist.
She has been competing in military-style physical challenges each week, along with 16 competiors from all around the country. Â The last contestant left gets a $250,000 grand prize.
The physical challenges involve activities such as swimming, climbing, mud runs, and other difficult tasks.
The competitors are split into four teams, each led by a United States Marine or Army official.
Angelina is a member of Team Riki, named for Riki Ling, a U.S. marine who is also a nutritionist and weightlifter.Â
At the end of every episode, one or two competitors get eliminated. Â Scarlett Angelina has survived the first five episodes of this season without being taken out in an elimination challenge.
She attended public school in North Brunswick for most of her childhood.
“I lived in North Brunswick from when I was about 6 years old until I was 16,” Angelina told the Home News Tribune’s Bob Makin. Â “I grew up in the Renaissance [neighborhood] and moved my senior year.”
She eventually relocated to New Brunswick during college.
“New Brunswick is an awesome city, and living downtown is very convenient. Restaurants, bars, grocery store, the gym. And not to mention, it’s very easy to get into the city via train,” Angelina told the Home News.
In Episode 5, which aired on July 9, Angelina won the second challenge, but lost the first challenge. Â That puts Angelina in the final eleven contestants left on the show.
