OLD BRIDGE, NJ—A 44-year-old Staten Island man was hospitalized in critical condition after being shot at a limousine company in Old Bridge on May 16.

The man, who authorities did not identify, was “wounded at about 9 a.m. Tuesday at a limousine company located on Route 9 in the township,” according to an official statement from Middlesex County Prosecutor Andrew C. Carey and Chief William Volkert of the Old Bridge Police Department.

According to NJ.com’s Craig McCarthy, the shooting resulted in three schools going into an emergency “shelter in place.”

Few additional details were available.  In photographs taken at the crime scene by NJ.com, it appeared New Brunswick Police Department (NBPD) Detectives were investigating.

However, acording to the MCPO statement, the shooting is being investigated by Detective Michael Machen of the Old Bridge Police Department and Detective Mark Morris of the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office (MCPO).

The joint statement was light on details and only said today that a 44-year-old man had been shot in the township.

The perpetrator was not mentioned or described in the statement, and it did not indicate whether the shooting occurred in the small “Timothy Limosuines” building, in the parking lot outside, or somewhere else in the vicinity.

The property in question, 2298 US Route 9, is owned by Steven Martin of Monroe Township.

The investigation was characterized as “active and… continuing” in the statement.  As of June 1, police have not announced any arrests in the case.

Anyone with information is asked to call Detective Machen of the Old Bridge Police Department at (732)721-5600, or Detective Mark Morris of the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office at (732) 745-3300.
