MCPO: Dead Body Found Under a Pier in Carteret

CARTERET, NJ—Another unidentified body was found in Middlesex County on May 2, this time in Carteret.

According to a May 3 press release from the Middlesex County Prosecutor's Office (MCPO), "the body of an unidentified male has been recovered from under a pier on the Arthur Kill."

The body was discovered by "passersby, who called police," according to the release.

Authorities are still trying to identify the victim, who they describe "as a middle-aged white male with brown hair, between five-feet, nine-inches and six-feet tall, and weighing between 200 and 250 pounds."

"He was wearing blue pants, a blue jacket, and black sneakers," read the statement.

The cause of death remained under investigation, pending the results of a scheduled autopsy.

On March 20, police announced they were still trying to identify another man's body, except this one had been found in Perth Amboy some seven months earlier in August 2016.

Anyone with information about this latest found body is asked to call Detective Luis Maldonado of the Carteret Police Department at (732) 541-4181, or MCPO Detective Joseph Chesseri at (732) 745-3115.
