NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—Two women who spearhead “Mesh Awareness Movement” (MAM) have been busy organizing a rally that will take place outside the Johnson & Johnson (J&J), annual shareholders meeting, on April 27, at the State Theatre.
Asked the day before the MAM rally how many women were expected to be in the Hub City and attend the “peaceful protest,” Tammy Jackson, a Kentucky resident and co-founder of the group, said: “Between everybody about 50 to 60 people.”
She added that “it’s a pretty big deal when you come into New Jersey [to go up] against J&J.”
According to Jackson, a handful of media outlets were notified that the protest is taking place outside New Brunswick’s State Theatre from 8:30 to 12:30 p.m.
And, a major Academy Award nominated/Emmy Award winning film company that produces “investigative documentaries about contemporary social issues,” according to its website, is in the Garden State conducting personal interviews with many of the visiting MAM victims allegedly harmed by J&J medical devices.
The documentary, which will focus on patient safety, will apparently include coverage pertaining to J&J mesh products and hip replacement devices, among other products, and tell a story thru interviews with alleged victims.
“We will be joining forces with other J&J Victim Advocates such as; Risperdal, Depuy Pinnacle Hip Implants, Power Morcellators, Levaquin, etc. for this very special event,” stated MAM, a grassroots Facebook group.
The group’s two main organizers, Jackson and Lisa Mason, have allegedly been injured by Ethicon, a unit of J&J, and its Gynecare transvaginal mesh products.
The venue for this year’s annual shareholder meeting was reportedly changed twice.
According to sources it was first set for J&J’s headquarters in New Brunswick, then moved to the Hyatt Regency, and finally rescheduled at the State Theatre, its usual location.
