SOUTH RIVER, NJ—A 25-year-old man from South River, Joseph A. Brown, is currently incarcerated at the Middlesex County Jail after being arrested on charges he sexually assaulted a 14-year old girl.

According to the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office (MCPO) press release, Brown was arrested on November 11, the day after he allegedly had sexual relations with the teenager.

Once the victim and her family notified the police, an investigation ensued and Brown was charged with a second degree count of sexual assault and a third degree count of endangering the welfare of a child.

The investigation, led by Detective Joseph Guiamano of the South River Police Department and MCPO Detective Michael Connelly, determined Brown had sexual relations with the teenager somewhere in the small town, but authorities opted not to disclose the exact location.

His bail is set at $100,000, with no 10% option, according to the jail’s records department.

Anyone seeking to bail Brown out of jail will be required to fill out a “bail source package,” which would show the source of the funds, and submit it to the prosecutor’s office for approval.

Authorities characterized the investigation as “active and… continuing.”

Anyone with information is asked to call Detective Guiamano at (732) 254-9002, extension 123, or Detective Connelly  at (732) 745-4340.
