HIGHLAND PARK, NJ—A local arts organization is hosting a “Comic In A Day” event at Pino’s Gift Basket Shoppe and Wine Cellar, a popular bar and liquor store, on November 20.

The event will showcase three different comic books written over the course of 24 hours, and a winner will be determined by “celebrity guest and comic book legend Mark McKenna,” according to a press release.

The comics will be read live with actors bringing the dialogue to life and have music composed by Dave Seamon specifically for the comics created.

Having actors and music will enhance the comic book experience while allowing others involved with coLAB arts to cross the different artforms and elevate one another.

The creative teams who made the comics are Robert Kijowski and Julia Kravchin, Tara DeWorsop and Andrew Lloyd, and Bassam Kaado and Joe Cascia.

coLAB arts pairs artists with social advocates and community members to create work that engages subjects that relate to New Brunswick or have a social and political effect.

They have various programs that provide workshops and resources for filmmakers, authors, and various other artists to express cultural phenomenon of the Hub City.

Tickets will be sold at the door for $12 each, but are available in advance for $10.

The event runs from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.  Pino’s is located a 13 North 4th Street in Highland Park.
