EDISON, NJ—On November 13, authorities found a man’s body in the woods near an apartment complex at the foot of the Donald Goodkind Bridge, which spans the Raritan River and connects Edison and New Brunswick

A resident of the Valley Manor Apartments told NJ.com’s Tom Haydon that he heard a loud bang at around 6 am.

Prosecutors announced later in the day that local firefighters and cops had been dispatched to the scene at about 6:14am, where the man’s “remains” were “discovered when the fire was extinguished.”

According to Haydon’s photos, the crime scene appeared to be lcoated in the woods between the complex’s parking lot and the bridge that carries Route 1 South over the Raritan.

The man was pronounced dead at 9:50am, according to a statement from the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office (MCPO).

Middlesex County Prosecutor Andrew C. Carey and Chief Thomas Bryan of the Edison Police Department (EPD) jointly announced the investigation into the man’s death.

The statement said that the man’s identity “is under investigation.”  One week later, there have been no follow-up statements from the EPD or the MCPO regarding the case.

It’s at least the fourth suspicious incident where a body was found in or near the City of New Brunswick since September 12.

Just across the Goodkind Bridge, police found a man’s body inside a vehicle parked outside the AMC Loews Movie Theater in New Brunswick on October 30.

The man, who hailed from Jersey City and had apparently suffered a fatal gunshot wound, was wanted by Hudson County authorities for allegedly murdering his wife.

On Septemer 15, police in New Brunswick discovered a body near the county’s expensive, but rarely utilized boat docks in Boyd Park.

Three days earlier, a body was found inside a vacant home on Joyce Kilmer, near the border between New Brunswick and North Brunswick.

In each case, police never identified who the bodies belonged to and have not issued follow-up statements.

Back in January, police found a man hanging in the woods near the city’s Walgreens Pharmacy on Jersey Avenue.  Neither the NBPD nor the MCPO issued a press release about that incident, which was determined by authorities to be a suicide.

Anyone with information about this most recent incident is asked to call EPD Detective Joseph Kenney at (732) 248-7400, or MCPO Detective James Napp at (732) 745-3300.
