NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—The New Brunswick Police Department (NBPD) is searching for a man who stabbed another person, and fired a gun at him, during a street fight.
The incident occurred shortly before 2 am on November 6 at the intersection of Suydam Street and Railroad Avenue.
Police identified the person stabbed as 38-year-old Manuel Amaya, a resident from New Brunswick.
According to the news release, “Mr. Amaya, told an officer that he and his friends were involved in a fight with other Hispanic males.” It’s unknown what they were fighting about.
A witness told NBToday that she was on the one phone with a 911 dispatcher alerting them about the disturbance in the street when a shot was heard.
Within minutes, police and an ambulance responded to the scene.
Amaya was lifted into the ambulance and transported to Robert Wood Johnson Hospital where he was treated for cuts in his abdomen with nonlife-threatening injuries.
“The suspect with the gun was described as a Mexican American male wearing A black sweater, clean shaven and having a ponytail. The second suspect was described as a Mexican American male wearing a black jacket, red shirt, and a black hat,” said Captain Miller of the NBPD.
Residents in the area say they are not surprised, just a couple of weeks ago another man was injured when a man cut him too, police were able to arrest the suspect on the scene.
