Perth Amboy Settles Sex Harassment Suit Against Ex-Chief For $150K

PERTH AMBOY, NJ—The city government has agreed to spend $150,000 in taxpayer funds to settle a civil lawsuit brought by one of its employees, alleging that a former Police Director had sexual harassed her on numerous occasions.

A civilian employee at the Perth Amboy Police Department (PAPD) records clerk Nalda Capo, filed the lawsuit against former Perth Amboy Police Chief, Benjamin Ruiz,

The complaint againt Ruiz, a close ally of Mayor Wilda Diaz, was filed at the Middlesex County Courthouse on December 10, 2015.

New Brunswick Firefighters Save Woman Climbing Route 1 Bridge

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—City firefighters rescued an unidentified woman who had become trapped as she climbed up one of the two Route 1 bridges connecting Edison and New Brunswick, according to a report on TapInto New Brunswick.

The woman was apparently climbing the arches of the Morris Goodkind bridge, which carries cars along Route 1 North over the Raritan River, when the New Brunswick Fire Department (NBFD) recieved a call on October 21.

ICE Created Phony University For Massive Immigration Sting

NEWARK, NJ—The federal government charged 21 people, including six New Jersey residents, with serious crimes related to a scheme that they used a made-up university to help more than 1,000 "foreign nationals," mostly from China and India, maintain visas.

The accused were characterized as "brokers, recruiters, and employers" who engaged in a conspiracy to fraudulently "mantain student and foreign worker visas through a 'pay-to-stay' New Jersey college."

Third Time Not a Charm: J&J Loses Another Baby Powder Case

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ–Another jury in St. Louis awarded a different woman millions of dollars over claims that Johnson & Johnson’s (J&J’s) baby powder, which contains talc, caused her ovarian cancer.

The loss, J&J’s third in a row over an alleged injury from using the pharmaceutical giant’s simple talcum powder, this time, resulted in a $70 million award, reports Bloomberg.

Report: Vehicle Shot Up in First Ward After Party Dispute Blocks Away

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—Local cops are investigating a shooting that took place following a large party in the early morning hours of October 16, according to a report on TapInto New Brunswick.

According to the report, police said that a vehicle was struck with gunfire near the intersection of Hassart and Welton Streets in the First Ward.  The New Brunswick Police Department (NBPD) did not otherwise publicize the incident.

Drought Warning Issued For 14 Counties in New Jersey

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—For the first time since November 2001, a drought warning has been declared for several counties in the Garden State.

October 21 saw Department of Environmental Protection Commissioner Bob Martin sign an Administrative Order designating a drought warning for Bergen, Essex, Hudson, Hunterdon, Mercer, Middlesex, Monmouth, Morris, Ocean, Passaic, Somerset, Sussex, Union and Warren counties.
