PISCATAWAY, NJ—A historic music series has been taking place recently on Sundays  at East Jersey Olde Town Village, a county-owned historic area located within Johnson Park at 1050 River Road in Piscataway.

The “village” features a collection of original, replicated, and reconstructed structures from the 18th and 19th centuries, such as the New Brunswick Barracks, Runyon House, Williamson Wheelwright Shop, Fitzrandolph House and Smalleytown Schoolhouse.

On August 28, the area hosted seven award-winning marimba artists performing classical music, and on September 11, the area hosted an evening of patriotic music performed by a 25-piece band and vocalist.

The series concludes on Sunday, September 18 at 6:30 p.m., when the the Broadway Pops Big Band with Greg Giannascoli perform “music from the Golden Age of Broadway.”

The program is free of charge and attendees must provide their own seating.  East Jersey Old Town Village is an accessible site, and wheelchairs can be provided upon request.

“Bring a blanket or lawn chair and join us at East Jersey Old Town Village,” said Freeholder Director Ronald G. Rios.  “From classical music to show tunes, this series has something for everyone!”

“The Village is the perfect setting for live entertainment. I encourage all residents to join us for these wonderful free music events,” added Freeholder Kenneth Armwood, who hails from Piscataway.

Funding for The Historic Music Series is provided in part by the Middlesex County Board of Chosen Freeholders and the New Jersey Historical Commission.
