NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—In recognition of the 15th anniversary of the September 11th terrorist attacks, the New Brunswick Fire Department (NBFD) is hosting a community blood drive on Monday, September 12 from 12 pm- 7pm.

NBFD will be hosting the Blood Drive at the headquarters of New Jersey Blood Services, located at 167 New Street in New Brunswick.

As we reported the organization declared a “blood emergency” earlier this year and called on local organizations to organize blood drives.

Eligible donors must be age 16 or older, who weigh a minimum of 110 pounds, are in good health and meet all state and federal regulations donor criteria.

Those under age 18 must have parental permission or consent, while people over age 75 must have a doctor’s note.  All donors need to eat prior to donating, and bring a valid ID to the drive in order to donate.

In return, the New Brunswick Fire Department is giving out free t-shirts and coupons to Houlihan’s as a thank you for your donation.

Appointments are encouraged but walk-ins are welcome.  To schedule an appointment go to http://tinyurl.com/nbfd08901 or call (800) 933-2566.
