NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ–On July 27, Janet Brennan Croft, co-editor of “Perilous and Fair: Women in the Works and Life of J.R.R. Tolkien,” will be the featured author in Rutgers University’s “AuthorTalks” series.
The event will be held at the Alexander Library, located at 169 College Avenue, on the Rutgers New Brunswick campus at 4:00pm.
Brennan Croft is considered an expert on fantasy authors, including J. R. R. Tolkien, the high fantasy author of The Hobbit, The Lord of the Rings, and The Silmarillion.
AuthorTalks, which is free and open to the public, is a series where Rutgers Faculty members whom are also authors, discuss their books with the public.
The events are held during the summer and winter breaks at the Rutgers University Libraries and the Office of Summer & Winter Sessions Rutgers.
Brennan Croft, the Head of Access and Delivery Services at Rutgers University Libraries, has a Master’s degree in Library Science and an extensive background in library services.
She is also a highly accomplished scholar in the field of mythology and fantasy, and has been the editor of Mythlore, a peer-reviewed academic journal, for ten years.
She’s credited as a “Tolkien Scholar” in Peter Jackson’s 2012 box office smash, “The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey.”
During AuthorTalks, Brennan Croft will discuss her book, “Perilous and Fair: Women in the Works and Life of J.R.R. Tolkien.”
The book focuses on the often overlooked and perceived insignificance of the role of women, as it pertains to J. R. R. Tolkien and his work.
Croft’s presentation will be followed by a question and answer session, and a book signing.
A drawing sponsored by the Rutgers’ Office of Summer & Winter Sessions, will be held during the talk, and give ten lucky attendees the chance to win free copies of the book.
