NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—Theater Close-Up, the “unique collaboration between PBS THIRTEEN and the large community of New York City area non-profit Off-Broadway theaters,” will present its first regioinal production at Crossroads Theatre Company.

THIRTEEN is “one of America’s most respected and innovative public media providers.” Theater Close-Up is a program where Off-Broadway shows are filmed and presented on television.

This season, Theater Close-Up expanded to include New Brunswick’s own Crossroads Theatre. It will be broadcasting playwright Nikkole Salter’s “Repairing a Nation.”

Repairing a Nation, directed by Crossroads Theater’s producing artistic director Marshall Jones III, is about a holiday celebration gone awry when the Davis family matriarch insists her family joins a lawsuit seeking reparations for the Tulsa Race Riots, which devastated the family.

“We are delighted and proud that new audiences throughout New York, New Jersey, and Long Island will be able to see Repairing a Nation, a searing new play by a truly gifted writer who reveals a little-known tragic episode in American history—the Tulsa Race Riots,” says Jones.

The broadcast will be hosted by theater icon Blythe Danner.

Crossroads Theater Company has a rich history of bringing African-American theater to a broad audience, as we reported previously.

The show will premiere Thursday, February 18 at 9 p.m. on THIRTEEN. There will be an encore February 19 at 2 a.m.

There will also be airings on WLIW21 February 21 at 9 p.m. and February 25 at 1 a.m. Plus, the show will be available online in the tri-state area beginning February 19.

There will also be live performances at Crossroads Theatre from February 26 through March 8, with opening night on February 28.Â
