Crime Alert: Man Hospitalized After Attack Near Rutgers

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ–The Rutgers Univeristy Police Department (RUPD) is investigating an "aggravated assault" reported one block away from campus shortly after midnight on Saturday, February 13.

According to a university crime alert, the third one in less than a week, at approximately 12:30 AM, a man unaffiliated with the school was "struck" with a "blunt object" on Huntington Street between Sicard Street and College Avenue.

"While walking he was approached by three male perpetrators one of which struck him with a blunt object following an incident at an off campus residence," reads the alert.

"The victim sustained a non-life threatening injury and was treated and released at a local hospital."

The alert also says the suspects fled in an unknown direction and that descriptions of the perpetrators "are limited at this time."

RUPD is actively investigating this incident and asks that anyone with information, or who may have been in the area at the time, contact their Detective Bureau at 848-932-8025.
