Old Bridge Upsets New Brunswick, Ending Huge Year For NBHS Zebra Football Program

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—If I told you the New Brunswick Zebra football team would be playing in the state semifinals two years ago, after they went 1-9 and couldn't score more than two touchdowns in a game, would you have believed me?

The New Brunswick Zebras were fantastic this season, and although they didn't achieve their goal of a state championship, they brought pride back into the community and have once again become a respected football team.

NBHA Executive Director Paid More Than $5,000 in Overtime This Year

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—The Executive Director of the New Brunswick Housing Authority (NBHA) has earned $5,687 in the first nine months of 2015, on top of his annual $155,062 salary, according to the agency's response to a public records request.

"Any of my time for overtime is redevelopment work, which is done separately from the housing authority time, and yes I am [eligible for overtime]," Clarke explained to the agency's Board of Directors on November 18.

New Brunswick Fire Department Raised $7,000 For Local Breast Cancer Charity

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ–In recognition of October being Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the men and women of the New Brunswick Fire Department served their community in custom-made pink t-shirts in support of the fight against breast cancer.

The department supported the Sisters Network of Central New Jersey, a non-profit gorup based in Somerset, by raising money through the sale of pink breast cnacer awareness shirts.

Altogether the New Brunswick Fire Department raised $7,000 to be donated, raised by selling the shirts for $20 each.
