NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—Another Rutgers-affiliated person was injured in a violent assault on Friday, October 9 at approximately 2:10 A.M. at the intersection of Easton Avenue and Mine Street, according to a Rutgers University crime alert.

The incident occurred shortly after last call at the city’s dozens of bars, including Olde Queens Tavern, which is located at the same intersection.

New Brunswick Police Department (NBPD) Detectives were seen checking out surveillance video from a nearby shop later in the day.

However, two days after the incident, police still have not publicly identified any suspects or announced any arrests.

The crime alert said the victim, who is affiliated with Rutgers University, reported that he was struck once in the face with a closed fist.

According to police radio transmissions, the victim was found badly bleeding from the face as a result of been struck by the unmown suspect.

“We have a man down.  Easton and Mine,” said one officer on the police radio, who mentioned there was already a Rutgers University Police Department (RUPD) unit on the scene.

“Have EMS step it up here, he’s bleeding from the face pretty good,” says a NBPD lieutenant a few minutes later.

The crime alert said that the perpetrator then fled the area and the victim was transported to a local area hospital where he was treated for a non-life threatening injury.
