Rutgers Contra el Hambre Brinda Bocadillos para Niños de New Brunswick

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ— Rutgers Contra el Hambre (RCH) o Rutgers Against Hunger (RAH) se ha asociado con New Brunswick Play SAFE para crear el nuevo proyecto “Snack Pack” este verano, gracias a los donativos de ShopRite, la Fundación Embrace Kids, alimentos Johanna y Affinity Federal Credit Union.

Rutgers Contra el Hambre (RCH) colaboró con la Organizacion de Orientacion para Nuevos Estudiantes de Rutgers para crear una oportunidad de servicio a la comunidad mientras los estudiantes estaban en la orientación.

Blood Drive in Highland Park to Honor State Trooper Anthony Raspa

HIGHLAND PARK, NJ—A community is coming together to save lives through blood donations in memory State Trooper Anthony Raspa, who died on-duty at age 24 earlier this year.

Community Blood Services is teaming up with the Highland Park First Aid Squad to host a blood drive in honor of the late State Trooper at the Senior/Youth Center, located at 220 South 6th Avenue, on August 25 from 3-9pm.

Trooper Raspa, a Highland Park resident, was killed in a vehicle crash after hitting a deer on the Interstate 195 in Freehold Township.

New Brunswick Cleaning Woman Arrested and Charged With Theft

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—The North Brunswick Police Department arrested a longtime cleaning woman from New Brunswick and charged her with burglary and theft on August 18.

According to the police, Migdalia Morales stole jewelry from a customer’s home while she was cleaning it. Detectives confiscated five jewelry boxes, containing hundreds of pieces of jewelry, police said.

Morales has run a cleaning business for more than ten years, according to the North Brunswick PD's announcement on Facebook.

Sheriff’s Officer Struck by Vehicle Near Family Court

UPDATES (8/24): NBPD Captain JT Miller identified the pedestrian as 32-year-old Lakia Torres of Newark, and the driver as 26-year-old Ugonna Nworu of Piscataway.

"No summons were issued at the time of this report. Ms. Torres received a minor abrasion to her arm and complained of pain," said Miller, who confirmed she was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Sheriff Millie Scott confirmed Torres was released from the hospital but has not returned to work.
