RWJ Hospital Locked Down For Over 2 Hours as HAZMAT Team Investigates Bomb Threat

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ–Patients and visitors were unable to enter or exit Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital's massive Hub City campus for more than two hours on the afternoon of June 8.

Though no explanation was provided while the "code yellow" was in effect, city police later told the press that a bomb threat prompted the heightened security at the largest hospital in Central New Jersey.

Two Suspects Steal a Safe and $10,000 From Hansel ‘n Griddle Restaurant

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ–The New Brunswick Police Department (NBPD) is investigating a burglary that occurred at a popular Sixth Ward restaurant, “Hansel 'n Griddle.”

The burglary occurred during the early hours of Wednesday May 27, at the store's location at 130 Easton Avenue.  It's one of the four locations in Central New Jersey.

Video surveillance footage provided to the NBPD shows two male suspects exiting a white Nissan Altima in the area of the restaurant approximately ten minutes before the attempted break in.

New Learning Center Planned For Jameson Complex at Rutgers

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ–Construction is expected to begin this summer on a new 20,000 square foot "learning center" adjacent to the Jameson dormitories on Jones Avenue.

The Global Village Learning Center will include both classrooms and student housing to serve the Douglass Residential College at Rutgers University.

The center will house 37 Douglass students, as well as a large meeting room aimed at "offering students a supportive living-learning environment."

Chipotle Eliminates Genetically Modified Foods at All Locations

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ–Chipotle Mexican Grill announced in late April that the nearly 50 ingredients used in all of its U.S. restaurants are now free of genetically modified organisms (GMO's).

The company said its tortillas are the only food items on its menu that include any artificial additives.  But it is now actively developing new recipes for its tortillas, according to a news release.

New Brunswick's first and only Chipotle opened in 2009 at the intersection of George and Church Streets.
