NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—City police are investigating a shooting that was reported shortly after 8pm on Wednesday, June 3, near the intersection of Lee Avenue and Talmadge Street in the Second Ward.

One woman was injured in the shooting, according to a news alert.  However, police radio transmissions described a “man down.”

An ambulance was dispatched to the scene, but the victim was taken to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in a privately-owned tan Acura CSX, according to police radio transmissions.

“The only description is a [black] male that fled the area,” said a dispatcher shortly after the incident was first reported.

According to the radio transmissions, police were examining a video that may have captured the shooting.

Several police vehicles were observed outside the emergency room entrance of the hospital shortly after 8pm, and officers appeared to be searching the vehicle in question, while the car’s occupants sat on a curb.

According to the radio transmissions, officers attempted to get information about potential suspects from the driver and passengers.

“Whoever brought ’em there, keep that car,” one officer said to another who was at the hospital.
