NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—City police are investigating a shooting that took place in the Riverside public housing development in the First Ward on the evening of May 9 at about 9:40pm, according to police radio transmissions.

According to the police radio transmissions, a gunshot victim walked into Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital at about 10pm.

It is not clear yet if the victim, a man who police identified as a resident of that same block, was shot in Riverside or somewhere else.

Police initially responded to a report of a gunshot that damaged a window in one of the townhomes on Riverside Drive, located on the former site of the New Brunswick Memorial Homes highrises.

There, officers canvassed the area but it is not clear if they located evidence of a shooting or made any arrests.

Police have not issued any statements about the incident, and Rutgers has not issued a crime alert.
