NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—On March 10, just over a month after his second career Super Bowl win, New Brunswick’s Jonathan Casillas signed a three-year contract with the New York Giants.

The Giants are the fourth NFL team Casillas will play for in his career, and the third in less than a year.

As we reported, a sour start at the beginning of the season turned into a dream come true for the 27-year-old football star, after he was traded to one of winningest football teams in NFL history.

The linebacker was traded mid-season to the New England Patriots for two draft picks. It worked out well for Casillas. The season that began with Casillas on the Tampa Bay Bucaneers ended with him playing in his second Super Bowl just twelve weeks later.

New England faced the defending champions, the Seattle Seahawks, in what would turn out to be the most watched program in American television history, viewed by 120.8 million people.

The audience at home, including those rooting for Casillas here in New Brunswick, watched the Patriots nearly let the game slip away late in the fourth quarter.

However, after Seahawks coach Pete Carroll’s controversial play call late in the fourth quarter led to a game winning interception by New England’s rookie cornerback Malcolm Butler at the goal line with 20 seconds left on the clock, New Brunswick’s Jonathan Casillas and The New England Patriots became the 2015 Super Bowl Champions.

Though Casillas only played on special teams during the Super Bowl, his prescense was felt.

Casillas made a huge impact on the Patriots special teams and defense immediately after joining the team, and his #52 jersey could be seen flying across the field whenever he was in the game.

Casillas only started 3 of his 8 games with the Patriots, but still finished the partial season with a total of 28 tackles and a forced fumble.

Casillas is healthy and ready to make an impact this upcoming season with the New York Giants.   He has also launched a new website, dubbed POV52, available at http://jonathan-casillas.com.
