NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ–This spring, Rutgers Mason Gross school of Arts is allowing its senior class to display the skills they have been developing over the past several years in a public forum.

Mason Gross School of the Arts is the arts conservatory of Rutgers University. It is a  community of artists—dancers, filmmakers, musicians, theater artists, and visual artists—who study, teach, create, perform, and exhibit.

According to the Mason Gross website, “The mission of the school is to nurture creative talent and instill the insights and skills that future generations of arts professionals need to contribute to the creative and scholarly world.”

Mason Gross offers undergraduate and graduate degrees in dance, filmmaking, music, theater, and visual arts.

“In addition to its professional arts training programs, Mason Gross provides the larger community the opportunity to embrace the creative arts,” reads the website.

In the spirit of this mission statement, Mason Gross Galleries is presenting it’s first 2015 BFA Thesis Exhibition which has been titled “For the Crown. “

For the Crown is an exhibit in which senior BFA students from Rutgers University’s Mason Gross School of the Arts curate, install, and organize their respective thesis exhibitions in preparation for a professional art practice.

The works on view represent all seven concentration areas offered in Visual Arts: design, drawing, media, painting, photography, print, and sculpture.

This is a huge installation featuring over thirty artists all with their own unique perspectives and creative tastes.Several of the visual artists have previously been featured in New Brunswick Today.

The ongoing exhibit is being displayed at the Mason Gross Galleries located at 33 Livingston Avenue in the heart of New Brunswick’s art/theater district. The gallery hosted a reception for the showing on April 2 from 5pm to 8pm. The reception was catered by local resteurant Old Man Rafferty’s and many of the artist’s whose work are on display were at the reception for guests to meet. Admission to the gallerey is free.
