NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ–Spring is here!

And as usual, the New Brunswick Free Public Library will celebrate the coming of the season with a fun and traditional Holi celebration, on Saturday, March 28.

The library is located at 60 Livingston Avenue and the event is free and open to the public.

Holi is an annual celebration, an Indian tradition that is now celebrated all over the world.

The most notable part of the fetivities is the color play, where participants are given colorful powders to playfully throw at each other in celebration of the spring and of love.

Guests are strongly encouraged to wear casual, but colorful clothing.

Starting at 1:00pm, in the Carl T. Valenti Community Room, there will be free Henna tattoos and children’s crafts. Indian jewelry will be displayed for guests to see.

At about 1:30pm, the Rutgers Indian Graduate Student Association (RIGS) and the school Hindi USA will put on a performance. There will also be a feast and a free raffle.

And then, at 3:30pm, the colors will fly on the front lawn of the public library. Those who participate will be covered in the powder and will not be allowed to go back into the library!!

In addition to RIGS and Hindi USA, this event has been made possible by the Taalim School of Indian Music and the South Asian Health Initiative of the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School.
