NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ–On Thursday March 26, at 7:30pm in the Douglass Campus Center’s Trayes Hall, the Rutgers chapter of Thaakat will be holding a benefit concert featuring Pakistani singer Asim Azhar.

All proceeds from the event will be used to help out with the Thaakat L.O.V.E campaign, short for “Love over violence everywhere.”  It encourages women to demand the respect that they deserve and also encourages everyone else to hold them in high esteem.

The event will feature light refreshments, music by Desi Stars DJs-Himanshu Tee and Mohinsh T, and a special performance by Asim Azhar as well as an open dance floor at the end.

Attendees are encouraged to dress to impress as there will be professional photographers with Aamiracle Studios on hand.

Pre-sale Tickets with student ID are $7, or $10 for general admission.  Both have an optional $5 ticket to attend a “Meet and Greet” with Azhar.  Admission at the door will be $10.

Tickets are being sold at tables inside the Rutgers Student Center on College Avenue from 12-4pm on Tuesday 3/24, and at the Livingston Student Center in Piscataway from 12-4pm on Wednesday 3/25.

Other projects that Thaakat works to fundraise for are The Fatama Maternity Center in Sierra Leone, which was opened just a year ago and has since helped over 2,050 patients, the Konadu Basic School which provides poor children in Ghana classes in all fields of study including computers, and Dreams for Kachra Kundi, which is the school funded solely by the Thaakat foundation in a very poor area of Pakistan.
