NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—Police announced the arrest of Jerome Powell, a 21-year-old man from Camden, who was identified as one of two suspects in a  February 2 robbery at 55 Morrell Street, an off-campus apartment complex.

According to a New Brunswick Police Department (NBPD) news release, Powell went to Morrell Street with the intent to purchase an X-Box from the resident who was attempting to sell it.

Once inside the residence, one of the two suspects pulled out a firearm while the other took the X-Box, cell phones, and marijuana, which was inside the house.

The NBPD said that the two suspects fled in an unknown direction and that none of the victims were injured. The other suspect has not been identified.

The NBPD said that Powell has been charged with robbery and conspiracy to commit to robbery and theft.

Powell is currently jailed in Camden County, according to the statement.

But the public statements did not say when Powell was arrested, or what agency made the arrest.

The investigation is ongoing and the New Brunswick Police Department is asking anyone with information, or who may have been in the area at the time, to contact their Detective Bureau at 732-745-5217.
