NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—Three armed gunmen forced their way into a Courtland Street home in the Sixth Ward, demanding marijuana, according to a Rutgers University crime alert.

The robbery occurred on February 4, shortly after 9pm, according to police radio transmissions.  However, the crime alert erroneously indicated that the crime occurred at 10:16pm.

According to the alert, the three men then took several items of value from the victims and, according to police radio transmissions, fled towards St. Peter’s University Hospital and Easton Avenue.

New Brunswick Police Department (NBPD) officers quickly arrived on the scene and began investigating.

“One fled through the alleyway, another an unknown location… All three of them had [firearms], she said,” said a police officer on scene.

The victims were not physically injured, but a woman who called 9-1-1 was “hysterical,” according to a police dispatcher.

NBPD reported that there were “signs of drug usage” inside the residence at the time of the incident, according to the alert.

The suspects are described as three dark-skinned black males, approximately 6’0” tall, in their early twenties and wearing dark clothing.  Two of the suspects were wearing scarves and one was wearing a mask.

The NBPD is asking that anyone with information about this incident to please contact the department’s Detective Bureau at 732-745-5217.
