NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—Rutgers Business School student Maneesha Singh passed away on December 30, according to an email sent by Rutgers-New Brunswick Chancellor Richard Edwards.
After transferring from Santa Rosa Junior College in California in 2011, Singh attended Rutgers to pursue an accounting degree in the Business School.
“She was the most vibrant person I had ever come across in my life. She had this care-free attitude and never let anything bring her down. She passed this quality on to me,” says her best friend, Ritu Mishra.
“She never stressed and believed in enjoying life to the fullest. She loved to dance and that was a passion we shared together.”
“Maneesha was the type of person to completely impact someone’s life by just her smile and positive attitude… She was always happy, not something which you come across that often,” Mishra stated.
The email did not state the cause of her death, but Edwards expressed his deepest condolences to the Singh family.
“Our community is saddened by Maneesha’s passing, and we offer our thoughts and prayers to her family and friends,” wrote Edwards in the campuswide communication.
Edwards stated that the family requested he inform the Rutgers community about the services that were arranged for Singh, as the family welcomes the Rutgers community to attend.
A wake for Singh will be held on Wednesday, January 7, between 6:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m., at Gowen Funeral Home, at 239 Livingston Avenue in New Brunswick.
Edwards encourages anyone who is grieving and is in need of services to contact Counseling, ADAP, and Psychological Services (CAPS).
“Please know that our counselors are available to any student who is grieving Maneesha’s death. You can contact CAPS at 848-932-7884, visit the center at 17 Senior Street in New Brunswick, or reach out to the Dean of Students for assistance,” Edwards stated.
