NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—The New Brunswick Police Department is investigating a robbery that took place near the intersection of Central Avenue and Prosper Streets on Tuesday December 23, shortly before 6:45 p.m.

According to the New Brunswick Police, the victim was a female who is affiliated with Rutgers University. The victim reported being approached by two males. One of the men pulled out a firearm and demanded that the victim to turn over her property.

The New Brunswick Police Department said that the victim was not injured and the two perpetrators fled on foot toward an unknown direction. The New Brunswick Police also said that the description of the two men is limited at the current time.

According to police radio transmissions, the female Rutgers student reported the attempted robbery and described the suspects as two black men wearing puffy jackets.

“Just out of curiosity, what did they take?” asked one officer over the police radio.

“Nothing.  Just flashed a [handgun] and she didn’t have any money, so they left,” was the response.

Because of the incident’s proximity to Rutgers University, the school issued a campuswide alert, the twentieth such alert since the fall semester began in September.
