NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—The New Brunswick Police Department is looking for the three masked men they say are responsible for a robbery that occurred on Sunday, December 21, at approximately 9:10 PM.
The incident occurred at the Campus Deli convenience store located on 82 Senior Street in New Brunswick.
Three masked perpetrators robbed Campus Deli at gun-point before fleeing the scene. Their location is still unknown at this time.
Fortunately, the victim of this crime was not physically injured.
During the pursuit of the perpetrator’s, police described the robbers as being Hispanic and possibly juvenile, and 5’6″ or 5’7″.
The incident caused the Rutgers University Police Department to issue a crime alert, the nineteenth alert of the fall semester. A previous incident at the same store three months earlier did not generate a campus crime alert, likely because the perpetrator was arrested swiftly.
On September 9, NBPD officers arrested 25-year-old Dontay Johnson and charged him with Robbery and Weapons Offenses after he pulled a knife on store clerk while attempting “to leave with a candy bar without paying for it,” according to police.
“When questioned by the store clerk, Mr. Johnson pushed the clerk and pulled a knife on him, threatening to stab him. Mr. Johnson then fled the store. The store clerk alerted police and patrol units quickly located Mr. Johnson near the store and placed him under arrest,” reads a police statement on the incident.
