Dr. Ruth Discusses Sexuality with Rutgers Students in Honorary Lecture

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ–On October 21, famed psychosexual therapist, Dr. Ruth Westheimer, paid a visit to the Douglass Student Center to give a lecture on her much renowned expertise in psychology and sexuality. 

"Dr. Ruth" made her claim to fame on her radio talk show, which eventually became televised, and is considered an expert in the psychology of sex and sexuality between people.  She has published over 30 books throughout her career on the subject.

Shooting Victims Dispute NBPD Statement on Recent Incident at New Brunswick Apartments

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—Two victims of a recent shooting, and their family members, are taking issue with public statements made by New Brunswick Police that indicated they were involved in an "ongoing dispute" with their shooter, who remains unidentified.

Brothers Ryan Howard and Ricky Drake say they were surprised to see that the police released their names, but still have not identified the shooter publicly.

"There's no suspects," said Howard.

Sixth Annual Turkey Trot Raises Funds For Elijah’s Promise

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—A community in need deserves a friend indeed.

One of the most recognizable friends to those in need here in the Hub City is Elijah's Promise, which has been catering to economically vulnerable city residents since its founding in 1989.

On November 2, Elijah's Promise will be hosting its sixth annual "Turkey Trot" walk, to raise the funding necessary to support the local community soup kitchen and its programs.

Rocky Horror Picture Show Screening at Historic State Theater

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—On Friday, October 31 at 11PM the State Theater will host the ultimate Halloween audience participation film.

The theater will be playing the cult classic movie musical, "The Rocky Horror Picture Show," on their massive projection screen.  Tickets are $14.

The film stars include Tim Curry, Barry Bostwick, Meat Loaf, and Edison's own Susan Sarandon.  It also features such classic songs as "The Time Warp," "Dammit Janet," "Science Fiction/Double Feature," and many more.

The New Brunswick Recreation Department is hosting two free public events on Thursday, October 30 in Buccleuch Park. 

Then on Halloween Day, community organizations will be hosting two "trunk or treat" events offering free candy to children who are accompanied by an adult.

White House Teams With Rutgers For Pilot Survey to Identify Scope of Campus Sexual Assault

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—The White House Task Force to Protect Students from Sexual Assault recently selected the Center of Violence Against Women and Children (VAWC) at Rutgers University's School of Social Work to "pilot" a campus climate survey on sexual assault.

The Task Force was created on January 22, to address this issue in a time when many universities neglect, ignore, and harass victims of sexual assault on campus.
