NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—The Hub City Sounds free summer concert series will continue in Boyd Park this weekend with Saturday’s “Rock on New Brunswick!!!!” and Sunday’s “80’s EDM Dance Party.”

This weekend’s festivities are part of the ongoing concert series made possible by the collaborative efforts of New Brunswick Cultural Center and Johnson & Johnson.

Presented by Don Giovanni Records and local arts organization coLAB Arts, the Saturday show kicks off at noon and will be headlined by New Brunswick punk rock trio Screaming Females, who also headlined last year’s show.

Screaming Females, who had their first show in a New Brunswick basement nine years ago, are making a return to the New Jersey scene after recording their first live album, “Live at the Hideout,” in Chicago.

The concert will also feature performances from Nude Beach, Shellshag, Mal Blum, Long Beard, and three bands from New Brunswick High School.

AECO Productions, an event production company comprised of Rutgers students, will host the rave that begins at 3 PM on Sunday.

Adam Cohen, also known as DJ-AECO, will be spinning a combination of today’s popular electronic dance music and electro-house remixes of 1980’s hits from Michael Jackson to Bon Jovi.

Attendees are encouraged come dressed in their most authentic 80’s attire and should also expect to see performances from dancers and fire-breathers.

According to Cohen, the event may be put together by Rutgers students, but it is not just for students.

“We plan the event to engage the Rutgers and New Brunswick communities and bring them together,” said Cohen. “It’s a way to give back.”

Free parking for both events will be available one block away from Boyd Park at the Rutgers University Public Safety Building parking deck, from the entrance on Abeel Street.
