NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—On November 8, 2010, Graham Lustig opened the Lustig Dance Theatre, located at 80 Albany Street in downtown New Brunswick.

The theatre has its own professional dance company that does several shows a year, recreational dance classes and even a wellness program which offers a plethora of unlimited dance and fitness classes for adults who have an interest in dance as well as remaining physically active.

Now five years after opening, the theatre is preparing for an anniversary celebration on November 8, which will include a live dance performance and a Gala fundraiser.

The dance performance, called “Luna Mexicana,” will be a Mexican-style show in honor of the Mexican holiday known as Dia de los Muertos, or “Day of the Dead.”

While “Luna Mexicana” will focus on traditional Mexican styles and music, it will be filled with various music and dance elements to help represent and showcase the different generations from older to modern.

“Luna Mexicana” will take place at 7pm at Crossroads Theatre, located at 7 Livingston Avenue.  Tickets can be purchased be lustigdancetheatre.org.

Additionally, the company is holding open auditions for “A Jazzy Nutcracker” this month for those who wish to dance alongside professionals in the highly-anticipated holiday show.

“A Jazzy Nutcracker” will be a modern version of the classical ballet “The Nutcracker”, taking place in 1960s London.

The open auditions are scheduled for September 20, from 3-6pm at the Lustig studio, located on the second floor of 80 Albany Street.

The audition fee is $15 before September 18th, and $25 after that.  More information is available by calling (732) 246-7300 or visiting lustigdancetheatre.org.
