NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—On Tuesday, September 9 at around 8:45pm, local police responded to Mi Tierra Bar on reports of an individual inside with a handgun.

Police had identified the suspect upon arriving to the scene as 31-year-old Highland Park resident Obed Salas-Ramos and found a 9mm handgun in his possession, according to a press release issued Wednesday.

As we reported, the Jersey Avenue bar recently saw a fight lead to a shooting across the street in the parking lot of the 24-hour Walgreen’s Pharmacy.  In that incident, New Brunswick resident Enrique Perez recieved a non-fatal gunshot wound to the buttocks.

But police investigators believe the that Salas-Ramos is not a suspect in the September 6 shooting, which is still under investigation.

Salas-Ramos was arrested peacefully and charged with Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose and Unlawful Possession of a Weapon.
