NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ–Local police are searching for three suspects in a violent slashing that occurred Sunday night around 11:20pm near the Hamilton Gardens Apartments, located at 300 Hamilton Street.

The victim was slashed in the throat, according to police radio transmissions.

NJ.com’s Vernal Coleman reported that the victim was a 23-year-old Hispanic man who lives in New Brunswick. He is in stable condition at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, according to the report.

According to the transmissions, one of the suspects is a white man and the other two are black men.

“[White] male has a white t-shirt on.  The [Black] male has a white t-shirt with a hat on, and the second [black] male has on a black hoodie with stripes,” says an officer over the dispatch radio.

Police said that the victim said he was assaulted “all the way in the back” of the sprawling apartment complex, which runs along the city’s border with Somerset County.

Officers on the scene were not immediately clear what kind of weapon was used in the incident.
