Potential DEVCO-NBPA Deal to Redevelop Ferren Deck Means Uncertain Future For Paterson St.

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—As the final storefront in Ferren Mall closes, the powerful government agency that owns the vacant structure has entered into an agreement with a developer to market their prime real estate.

On the April 21 New Brunswick Parking Authority (NBPA) Board of Commissioners meeting, the board approved an exclusive marketing deal to let the New Brunswick Development Corporation (DEVCO) recruit tenants for potential large-scale developments on the large site.

New Brunswick Resident Completes 100-Mile Endurance Run

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—It took five years for 29-year-old Megan McGrath to finally get picked in a lottery to be able to participate in Saturday’s oldest and most prestigious 100-mile trail race in the world: The Western States 100-Mile Endurance Run.

But it was all worth it for McGrath, a New Brunswick resident who traveled to California for the race, and crossed the finish line early yesterday morning after 22 hours, 23 minutes, and 20 seconds.

Public Library Kicks Off Sixteenth Annual Summer Reading Program

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—On Saturday, June 21, the New Brunswick Free Public Library (NBFPL) kicked off its sixteenth annual Summer Reading Program for kids and teens, and its second annual program for adults.

From 1-3pm, people of all ages came to the basement to sign up for the programs, with a turnout that was “at least as good as last year and probably much better,” according to Children’s Librarian Tamara Richman.
