NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—For the first time this Sunday, chefs Ben Deutsch, Mike Schultz, and Angel Ortiz are taking over the kitchen at the Spring Street cheesesteak emporium Garden Steak, and slinging pancakes, waffles, and biscuits.

But don’t show up expecting your mother’s brunch at this popular new gourmet cheeseteak shop, located next to the famous Court Tavern at 9 Spring Street.

With restaurants such as Elements, Battello, North End Grill, and Monsú on their collective resumes, the trio will be dishing out innovative twists on classic brunch staples.

There will be smoked maple syrup to drizzle over your chocolate chunk pancakes.

Eggs Benedict will house pork roll and broccollini under a blanket of chipotle hollandaise. Tomales stuffed with braised short ribs will be accompanied by ranchero sauce and tomatillo salsa. Side dishes run the gamete from housemade breakfast sausage to romesco homefries.

Unlike their traditional pre-fixe suppers, this brunch menu is a-la-carte with entrees ranging from $9 to $18. For an additional $10 diners can partake in the fresh juice bar.

The tomato juice with a bevy of condiments like horseradish, pickles, and sriracha might encourage some to pack a flask.

No reservations are needed to get a seat, however space is limited.

Brunchgoers are also advised to come early, as some items will be in short supply and may sell out quickly.
