NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ–Tonight at 5pm, twelve Registered teams will compete in the First Amateur Burger Eating Contest held by 25 Burgers New Brunswick to benefit Elijah’s Promise.

Located right across from the city’s train station, 25 Burgers opened their first New Brunswick location last year as part of a larger trend that has seen gourmet burger establishments opening up at a rapid pace.

Last September, 25 Burgers became the “Burger Mania” winner of best overall burger at the Raritan River Festival in Boyd Park.

Today’s contest will be head-to-head and test speed over quantity with sponsor judges assessing which team consumed 10 burgers the fast without violating any of the contest rules.

First, Second, and Third place teams will receive prizes of $300, $150, and $75 dollars respectively.

Each team paid a $15 entrance fee which will be donated to Elijah’s Promise Soup Kitchen. Fans and burger enthusiasts are invited to show up, watch the action, and root on their favorite teams.

The contest will go from 5pm-8pm at 25 Burgers at 4 Easton Avenue, on the ground level of the Easton Avenue Apartments.
