NORTH BRUNSWICK, NJ—The body of a 17-year-old New Brunswick girl was discovered early Wednesday morning in Elmwood Cemetery, near the border between New Brunswick and North Brunswick.

Just 10 hours later, Acting Middlesex County Prosecutor Andrew Carey issued a one-paragraph statement saying there was no reason to believe there was foul play:

At 9 a.m. today, the body of a 17-year-old female from New Brunswick was found at the Elmwood Cemetery on Georges Road in North Brunswick. An investigation by the North Brunswick Police Department and the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office has determined that no foul play was involved.

Actually, New Brunswick Police were first dispatched to the scene around 8:21 am.

Seven minutes later, officers on the scene were requesting a stepladder, according to police radio transmissions.
