NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ–Public and non-profit managers who are interested in leadership roles can now register for the spring session of Rutgers’ Mini-Masters in Public Administration program, which offers classes in New Brunswick.
The 30-hour program is conveniently structured for working professionals with classes on five Fridays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on April 4, 11, 25 and May 2 and 9.
The Mini-MPA is offered by the Rutgers-Camden Department of Public Policy and Administration (DPPA) in partnership with the Center for Executive Leadership in Government (CELG) at their headquarters at 303 George Street in New Brunswick.
Dr. Angie McGuire, the program director, said the Mini-MPA program benefits both those in mid-career and emerging professionals.
“The Mini-MPA offers senior executives an opportunity to update their leadership skills, and can help mid-career professionals fast-track their careers, or give young careerists a foundation in the public and non-profit sectors,” McGuire said.
The program’s core modules cover 10 topics critical to public and non-profit management taught by experienced Rutgers faculty and practitioners. The sessions feature interactive, in-depth discussions and hands-on lessons.
The Spring’s seminar topics include modules on communication skills, leadership and team development, public law, conflict resolution, financial management, ethical dilemmas and performance management.
The program fee is $2,500 and includes breakfast, lunch and all materials. Recently disclocated workers may be eligible for Individual Training Account (ITA) grants and discounts are available for organizations enrolling two or more participants.
First offered in 2011, the program has awarded certificates to more than 70 people from the public and nonprofit sectors and has consistently received high marks in surveys of its graduates.
