NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—Police are investigating a shooting that took place around 3:24pm today on Seaman Street between Joyce Kilmer and Railroad Avenues in the city’s Fourth Ward.
According to police on scene, there were two people injured, one of them seriously. Â Both have been taken to an area hospital.
According to police radio transmissions authorities were seeking a car with three men in connection with the shooting.
“Supposedly, it was three [black] males. The shooter supposedly light-skinned, red hoodie,” said one officer on the police radio.
“They were last seen fleeing Seaman St towards Railroad Ave, then made a left down Railroad going the wrong way down the one-way. Possibly a white Nissan Altima, four-door.”
As of 4:20pm police were still scouring the scene for evidence and one officer was photographing the area.
At least fifteen yellow numbered markers, used to indicate locations of bullet holes or shell casings, were placed by officers in the middle of the street.
Two of the yellow markers were placed on top of a Ford sport utility vehicle parked in front of 289 Seaman Street.
The location of the crime scene is near the city’s Fire Department headquarters and Salvation Army building.
According to police radio transmissions, the shooting was reported to police by the Fire Department.
