NB Jazz Project Celebrates Fourth Annual Women in Jazz Month

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ–For the fourth year in a row, the New Brunswick Jazz Project is celebrating Women's History Month with Women in Jazz, a series of 12 women-led performances at The Hyatt, Makeda, Sophie’s Bistro, and Tumulty’s.

Tonight's show is at Tumulty's and features Jessica Ackerly, a guitarist and master's graduate of the Rutgers' Mason Gross School of the Arts.

After 2013 Election Irregularities, Diana Fajardo Decides Not to Seek Full Term on School Board

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—Tomorrow at 4pm, a deadline to run in the city's third-ever school board election will pass and so far only one candidate has announced they are running.

Due to a unique situation created by New Brunswick's switch to an elected school board, Diana Fajardo was elected last year in a landslide, but secured only a one-year term.  Typically, terms on the board last three years.

Gloria Steinem Speaks at Rutgers University on Media and Reality

PISCATAWAY, NJ—Gloria Steinem, a famous author, lecturer, editor, feminist activist, and opinion leader on issues of equality, spoke at the Livingston Student Center.

The Institute for Women’s Leadership Consortium organized this lecture. Members include Douglass Residential College, Center for Women and Work, Institute for Women and Art, Department of Women’s and Gender Studies, and several other organizations

The lecture was sponsored by Susan and Michael J. Angelides.

Rutgers Faculty Council: Revoke Condoleezza Rice’s Invitation to 2014 Commencement

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—Rutgers University's New Brunswick Faculty Council passed a resolution on Friday condemning the selection of Condoleezza Rice as the 2014 commencement speaker.

Rice, who is considered by many to be a controversial official in the administration of President George W. Bush, has not been well-received by the university community since she was announced as the graduation speaker last month.
