NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—Peter Rona, a well-known Rutgers professor who has traveled deep under the ocean's surface, passed away on February 19 at the age of 79 from blood cancer.

Rona was remembered as a frequent traveler aboard submersibles, and as a worker with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), according to fellow professor in the Department of Earth and Planetary Sciences Ken Miller.

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—Police are investigating a shooting that took place around 3:24pm today on Seaman Street between Joyce Kilmer and Railroad Avenues in the city's Fourth Ward.

According to police on scene, there were two people injured, one of them seriously.  Both have been taken to an area hospital.

HIGHLAND PARK, NJ—Live From the Streets, a popular hip-hop video series, is the brainchild of two former locals, Brooklyn-based rap producer Mr. Green and filmmaker Sam Lipman-Stern.

Since the summer of 2011 the  show has grown from a do-it-yourself project by two friends to a successful internet series supported by Noisey, the music channel of youth-oriented media behemoth Vice.

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ–City police are investigating a hit-and-run that resulted in the death of a 67-year-old man sometime late Wednesday night or early Thursday morning.

The incident occurred at the intersection of Bayard Street and Neilson Avenue near the Wolfson Parking Deck. At five AM, New Brunswick police reported that they suspected the man to be dead on arrival of law enforcement.

City police who arrived on the scene reported that the man was unresponsive with no breathing.
