NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ—There’s still time to check out an exciting exhibit at the only art gallery in downtown New Brunswick, one that features the work of local photographers.
On January 10, the Alfa Art Gallery opened its doors to present their exhibition, “New Brunswick in the Eyes of Photographers.” The well-attended reception included free wine and cheese, as well as a chance to meet the photographers.
The exhibit will be on display through today, January 29, according to the gallery’s website. The Alfa Art Gallery located on 108 Church Street in downtown New Brunswick. There is no charge for admission.
This is the exhibit’s fourth annual appearance at the gallery, and it features the work of twelve different photographers have their artistic interpretations of the city put on display for the public.
The exhibit is part of the “New Brunswick Art Salon” series, in which Alfa invites established and emerging artists to “present their works as a tangible presentation of their artistic expression.”
“This winter, we invited photographers to open the audience towards their images of New Brunswick, a cultural and diverse city with various perspectives and viewpoints,” reads the announcement of the reception.
The opening night reception drew a great crowd where guests gathered to not only view the abundance of photographs in the gallery, but to also enjoy refreshments and commune with fellow New Brunswick residents.
Offering a wide range of photographs, the exhibit exemplified the city’s beauty portrayed through the photographers’ lens.
“What an honor to have been selected to show my work about New Brunswick. When I finish my work, it’s nice to see people coming out to support it. Loved the experience,” said Christopher Sztybel, a city resident who owns a photography business and works with New Brunswick Today.
“Photography as a medium is especially powerful. A photograph holds nothing but the truth,” reads the event announcement.
“These series of photographs, dedicated to the city of New Brunswick, provide a different perspective to a city that is enriched by the citizens that inhabit it…[and] harbors such diversity.”
